Action pillars

ACAI seeks to improve the effectiveness of climate action in Africa by building the capacity of grassroots organizations to respond to climate change and access the funds needed to drive climate-related initiatives across the continent. We achieve these goals through:

Pillar 1: Increased capacity for climate change mitigation and adaptation through downstream partnerships

• Capacity support for the design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects through training, technical support package and knowledge sharing
• Support resource mobilization through the identification of funding and technical partners and the provision of support for grant applications; commitment to collective fundraising for partner projects
• Form and strengthen links between organizations and networks fighting against climate change
• Host a knowledge hub and learning exchange on best practices in climate-smart project and program design, training and capacity building

Pillar 2: Strengthening policy implementation through the promotion of climate-smart tools and approaches

• Promote a strategic approach to climate change adaptation based on access to climate-smart resources, agricultural value chain, conservation and education, informed by indigenous knowledge
• Improve access to decentralized infrastructure to ensure water, food and energy security through partnerships, training, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation
• Develop and implement country-specific programs to strengthen the implementation of TVET strategies on climate change mitigation, sustainable agricultural value chain
• Jointly with partners, develop country engagement strategies to strengthen policy implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), African Union program 2063 on climate change and building resilience
• Develop and implement adaptation programs for building resilience, access to water in vulnerable and remote communities, sustainable renewable energy for all, climate-smart agriculture with supply chains. comprehensive value, health and environment, and localization of the SDGs
• Develop a program of early warning systems against climate and food insecurity
• Strengthen public-private partnerships for increased reach and impact of climate finance and carbon market adoption

Pillar 3: Increased climate action through mobilization, awareness raising and
knowledge exchange

• Conduct climate media campaigns on local radios and via mobile phones across Africa
• Undertake strategies, initiatives, events and dialogues to build participation, awareness and momentum for climate action in Africa and Canada
• Represent partners in various forums and networks, advocate for a strong Canadian, African and global response to climate change
• Support the exchange of institutional and individual knowledge and the
