What sets ACAI apart?

ACAI seeks to work alongside a diversity of institutions, bringing the following unique characteristics and strengths:

1. Downstream focus – there is a gap to fill in the coordinated effort to tackle climate change on the ground; the national institutional technical capacities remain limited to go on the
ground to support individuals and communities both technically and financially – ACAI sets the stage for action
2. Resource mobilization – there is a lack of information on where resources are available and the technical capacity to access them; ACAI works alongside organizations to prepare and fund programs and projects
3. Technical support – ACAI works with staff of local and national institutions to strengthen the mechanism for project preparation, implementation and closure
4. Connect – ACAI brings together organizations working on climate change across sectors, sharing knowledge and tools to help develop a standard way of delivering projects
5. Integrate climate change tools, approaches and planning – working at the downstream level gives the ACAI up-to-date information on conditions and challenges on the ground, so it can
inform decision makers about the issues and strengthen policy approaches.

«ACAI can become a leading organization supporting climate change adaptation in Africa.” Laurent Mascar Ngoma, United Nations Independent Expert
